What I'd love to see is a set of consistent materials for the talks at
events.
Every year Microsoft gets all their MVPs together and works out the messages
they'll be sending out for the next twelve months. Every year SFD event
visitors are given inconsistent explanations of the concepts behind SFD,
FOSS, GNU/Linux etc.
I'm not saying we need to formalise a propoganda machine, but the success at
which MS manages to get its message across should be a good indication that
a consistent message is a successful one. If we had, say, a set of community
developed slideshows to use during the event, and we spoke based on the
points on those slideshows, we'd probably manage to educate the public much
better.
We've got some resources for SFD events as it is, we just don't formally
have one set of notes and discussion points we're going to use for our
events.
